Huckabee's rise has really sent the Republican establishment, which Hugh has sided with, into full on panic mode. It seems that the establishment cannot stand the fact that the grassroots evangelical base has their own opinion about who should be the nominee. The blue blood, country club Republicans cannot stand the thought that evangelicals might not tow the line this time around. The story of Huckabee's rise is not so much his stance on social/moral issues important to evangelicals, but also his stance on economic issues. This really is about small business conservatism vs. corporate conservatism.
My add on- the good ship Rudy McRomney is flailing like mad to stay afloat.
